These terms govern your voluntary participation in the Ubuntu Accounting Learner Management System (LMS), an AI-supported academic platform for Accounting 101 and 102 provided by your lecturer, Prof Cosmas Ambe. By choosing to access and use the platform, you acknowledge and accept the conditions outlined below.

01 // Service Scope

Ubuntu Accounting is a voluntary, AI-supported learning platform designed to assist students enrolled in Accounting 101 and 102. The platform provides dashboards, academic resources, learning analytics, and AI-based study assistants.

Participation in this LMS is optional and is not a formal requirement for course completion. Students may choose not to use the system without academic penalty.

Academic Notice: This LMS is a supplementary learning tool. Official assessments, marks, and academic records remain governed by the University’s formal systems.

02 // Acceptable Usage

The following activities may result in account suspension or restricted access:

  • Reverse Engineering
  • Bulk Scraping
  • Authentication Bypass
  • Malicious Input

02A // Data Collection & Usage

Information generated through use of the Ubuntu Accounting LMS may be collected and processed to support learning, improve system performance, and inform academic teaching and learning research.

This may include interaction logs, study behaviour indicators, progress metrics, and anonymised usage statistics. All data is handled responsibly and used strictly for academic and educational purposes.

No data is used for commercial purposes or shared externally without appropriate ethical approval.

03 // AI Output Disclaimer

The platform integrates AI assistants that generate responses based on statistical language models. AI outputs are intended for learning support only and may contain inaccuracies or incomplete interpretations.

Students remain responsible for verifying AI-generated information against official course materials, lecturer guidance, and prescribed academic sources.

04 // Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes unresolved through negotiation shall be submitted to the courts of Johannesburg.

05 // Voluntary Participation

Use of the Ubuntu Accounting LMS is entirely voluntary. Students may discontinue use at any time. Choosing not to participate will not negatively affect academic standing, assessments, or access to official course materials.
